The iconic Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Christmas Train celebrated its 25th anniversary by spreading holiday cheer across Canada and the United States. This year, the campaign began with a special stop in Saint John, New Brunswick, marking the first time this port city hosted the famous illuminated train.

The train, adorned with bright lights and a festive atmosphere, made a 45-minute stop at TD Station. During this time, attendees enjoyed a free live concert by the James Barker Band and singer Clerel, who performed on a stage integrated into the train. “It’s incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it,” commented Darrell Morehouse, who traveled from Oromocto to witness the event.
In addition to spreading holiday cheer, the CPKC Christmas Train has a charitable mission: to raise funds, food, and awareness about the importance of supporting food banks. Since its first run in 1999, this initiative has collected more than $24.3 million and 5.3 million pounds of food for needy communities in North America.
In Saint John, the funds and food collected benefited the Harbour Lights campaign, a nonprofit organization that supports 16 food banks in southwestern New Brunswick. According to its president, Paula Copeland, this event is an excellent opportunity to strengthen fundraising efforts during the holiday season.
The community’s generosity shone brightly during the event, raising more than $32,000 and 5,082 pounds of food in a single night. The Christmas Train will continue until December 20, ending in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.
